Summer Weather
Summers in Western North Carolina are generally hot, hot, hot during the day with a cool-off at night.
If there are rain showers during your trip, it’s not a problem! Carolina Outfitters has got you covered with splash gear available to keep you comfortable.
Sunscreen, sunglasses, and hats are all great items to bring on your rafting trip… especially the sunscreen!
The Nantahala River water can be chilly even in summer. If you prefer not to stay dry, wetsuits can be rented for $12 a set at our outpost.
Spring & Fall
The weather during these shoulder seasons can be totally random. Sometimes it is warm and sometimes chilly.
It’s advisable to check the weather before arriving, if chilly dress warm in synthetics and wool. No Cotton!
At the outpost, we have splash tops to help keep you dry. Wetsuits are provided free of charge in the spring and fall if you desire one.
Rainy Weather
Yes, we do raft in the rain! It’s a great way to spend a rainy day in the NC mountains. Water levels are monitored to ensure they stay within running parameters. Rafting trips are rarely canceled for rain.
